The site is located in an area defined by open fields approximately one mile East of the quiet hamlet of Holmacott. The former cattle barn is set at a corner of the farm with extensive views towards the valley.
The original external walls are constructed with various types of stone with the front gable quoins and opening reveals formed from local Marland brick. In general, the external walls are to be reinstated to retain the Barns original humble form. However, a large opening is to be introduced on the south elevation to flood the interior with natural light, this also takes full advantage of its setting by opening up views directly to the surrounding green fields and distance views.
The project is proposed to convert the existing cattle barn into a charming family home with an open plan kitchen & lounge/living room on the ground floor and two-bedroom on the first floor with direct landscape views from each of the bedrooms. The interior scheme is presented as a modern twist to the simple Barn, enabling a relaxed family lifestyle.
